Abstract

This qualitative study explores the psychosocial effects of societal pressure and expectations on college girls, employing purposive sampling and qualitative interviews discussions. The research aims to understand how societal norms related to academic performance, physical appearance, and social behavior shape their mental health, self-esteem, and identity. Data collected from individual interviews consisting of participants selected for their diverse experiences offer in-depth insights into the challenges and coping strategies of young women in higher education. Findings reveal recurring themes of stress, anxiety, and the impact of cultural and gendered expectations, highlighting the need for targeted support systems to foster resilience and well-being.
